Migration to Shopify

We have been creating e-shops for various platforms (Magento, Wordpress, custom developments, Shopify, etc.) for over 10 years, and for the past 7 of those, exclusively for Shopify. We abandoned other platforms because Shopify's advantages and reliability simply outweigh those of others. We mainly prefer the Shopify platform due to its security and rapid development.

If speed of creating an online store is important to you, then Shopify is definitely for you. We have completed an online store with a client in just a few days. In the end, the main time is spent on entering content, and sometimes even less time is spent on developing the online store.

Most often, we deal with migrating from Wordpress/Woocommerce to the Shopify platform. This is largely due to the fact that wp/woo software has been popular in Estonia for a long long time, meaning many online stores have simply been created with this software. At the same time, over the past 7 years, we have also migrated Prestashop, Shoproller, Opencart, Wix, Squarespace, Magento, and custom-built e-commerce stores to Shopify.

Key questions when migrating an e-store

Migrating a WordPress WooCommerce online store to the Shopify platform

Migrating a WordPress e-commerce store to the Shopify platform is one of our most popular services. During the migration, products with additional data, customers, orders, blog articles, and content pages can be transferred. Integrations with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software cannot be transferred, but we will create them in the Shopify store according to business needs, or set up a ready-made integration if available from the ERP software provider.

Main reasons for the move:

  • Issues with e-store reliability and platform updates.
  • User experience of e-store administration.
  • Software issues when there is a high number of visitors.

Migrating a ShopRoller e-store to the Shopify platform

Generally, stores on ShopRoller are smaller, meaning they have fewer products and less data to transfer to Shopify. Unfortunately, most information still needs to be manually re-entered into Shopify. If the e-shop uses accounting software, data can, for example, be imported into Shopify from there. We have completed several Shoproller to Shopify migrations.

Main reasons for migrating:

  • Looking for various functionalities that Shoproller does not yet offer.
  • Want to improve the user experience of the e-shop user interface or template.

Migrating a Magento e-shop to the Shopify platform

A Magento e-shop is generally migrated to the Shopify platform to save costs and achieve better reliability. We can transfer all necessary data from Magento to Shopify and create new interfaces with ERPs. As we have previously developed Magento e-shops ourselves, we are familiar with the environment.

Main reasons for migrating:

  • Magento maintenance and unexpected development costs associated with platform updates.
  • General development costs
  • User experience and e-shop loading speed
  • Security risks

Migrating a PrestaShop e-commerce store to Shopify

Data can be automatically migrated from PrestaShop to Shopify using migration tools. In some cases, merchants have had to manually create new product category filters. Orders can also be imported and linked to customers.

Main reasons for moving:

  • Overall development costs
  • Reliability

Migrating Squarespace and WIX e-stores to the Shopify platform

There are tools for data migration, but Squarespace and WIX e-stores generally have less content created, and manual migration to Shopify might even take less time than using some of the tools.

Main reasons for migrating:

  • Looking for functionalities that other SaaS e-commerce software does not yet offer.
  • Desire to create custom interfaces

10 years of e-commerce experience in Estonia and elsewhere

Over the last 10 years, we have encountered various e-commerce platforms and their associated services. Four years ago, we decided to fully focus on the Shopify platform for the following five reasons:

  • Shopify is a reliable and proven platform, where the developer and merchant do not have to worry about daily conflicts related to software updates.
  • The platform offers merchants 24/7 user support, meaning the agency does not have to worry about urgent merchant queries.
  • Shopify is based on modern web technology and offers developers both exciting challenges and powerful ready-made solutions.
  • Shopify's business model encourages e-commerce software development agencies to provide high-quality and sustainable service.
  • The Shopify ecosystem offers agencies the opportunity to earn additional income through the development of paid apps or themes. The management of created apps and the collection of monthly fees have been made pleasantly easy for the app creator.
